Almost all of the previous suggestions for motivating students can be useful in home-schooling situations. Indeed home-schoolers usually have much more flexibility and can add all kinds of privileges for earned points such as watching television, a meal out, or a visit to the movies. Parents, however, like teachers, must beware of points-per-reward "inflation" or you will find yourself funding bigger and bigger "ticket" items for fewer and fewer points. Try to keep to a reasonable and fair level of points-per-reward, one which truly motivates and does not "turn off" the students need for the reward. A student would be turned off by having to work for a solid six months to purchase one visit to a movie.
Remember to award Bannatyne Program Certificates of Excellence to students for good work, at least once a week.
Also give the student a Bannatyne Program Certificate of Excellence for each Workbook Completion.
When a student finishes the entire Bannatyne Program (at the completion of Neptune Workbook 13), award a Bannatyne Program Certificate of Completion to the student.
The Bannatyne Program Certificate of Completion should not to be given for partial completion of the Bannatyne Program.
