Do all students have to start with the Pearl Workbook--the first Workbook in the Bannatyne Program?
There are two entry points into the Bannatyne Program; one is Pearl Workbook 1 (Jewels Series) and the other is Galleon Workbook 6 (Ships Series).
Those students who have no knowledge, or a limited knowledge, of the written/printed five short vowels and the simple consonants of English should start in the Jewel Series with the Pearl Workbook 1.
Please refer to the Quick Placement Test included with the Bannatyne Program on DISC 1 and use it to determine where any given student should enter the Program. You will need to have purchased the Bannatyne Program to access the Quick Placement Test.
Why do you keep recommending that all students complete all 13 Workbooks of the Bannatyne Program?
What would you think if your doctor said, "Well, I only completed half of my medical training," or your car dealer said, "I didn't bother to put the tires on your new car"? Unfortunately the teaching of reading in our schools has become a loose collection of almost endless, tiny disconnected pieces (called words) treated as if it were a pictureless jigsaw puzzle which can be assembled in any random order for teaching purposes. Almost no reading programs have a solid foundation of linguistic principles, psycholinguistic theory, complete task-analysis, orthographic regularization, phonetic structure, memory principles, sequential linguistic "bit" control, or a wide variety of built-in motivation techniques. Because all these factors are embedded seamlessly in the Bannatyne Program each lesson has to be taught in the correct sequential order in the prescribed Step-by-Step manner laid out in the Teacher Guides--just as you would in a fine mathematics program. Anything less than the completion of all 13 Workbooks of the Bannatyne Program will seriously shortchange your students and deprive them of very valuable reading, writing, spelling and linguistic knowledge. The Bannatyne Program teaches students how the English language works. Of course, if your older students start in the Ships Series Galleon Workbook after having taken the Quick Placement Test they will only have to complete the 8 Workbooks in the Ships and Planets Series.
The Bannatyne Reading Program is an excellent, tested reading program. The Bannatyne Reading Program is unlike any other reading programs currently available. This means you will find many features which are only in the Bannatyne Reading Program. In some Commonwealth countries the program may be referred to as: Bannatyne Programme, or Bannatyne Reading Programme.
